In this research review and meta-analysis they compared using acupuncture, western medicine , chinese herbal medicine and vocal training to treat vocal nodules. Acupuncture showed significantly better results than both western medicine and chinese herbal medicine. However, vocal training did out perform acupuncture treatment. Would be interesting to see how acupuncture + vocal training compared to just vocal training. Not surprisingly the acupuncture results improved when they used local and distal points , as all good TCM acupuncturists do, as opposed to only using local acupuncture points.
