Using Acupuncture to help with chronic dry mouth associated with radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
Really Bad Dry Mouth
In this research they were looking at people that suffer from chronic xerostomia (dry mouth) from raditation therapy for cancer treatment. They compared acupuncture treatment , sham acupuncture and standard oral hygiene. It was fairly well designed research with a randomized, blinded, 3-arm, placebo-controlled trial conducted for 8 year. They found that the people who got the true acupuncture did better than both of the comparison groups!
